The Keg with the Millers

Last night we went to the Keg with Colin & Tara. YUM! It's one of our favorite restaurants. Good friends, good food. Special thanks to Janine for watching the kids :)Tara couldn't finish her dessert and didn't want to take it home. I just couldn't see it go to waste, so offered to take it off her hands. They gave me this huge bag to carry it. Pretty swanky, huh? :)

Jamin comes home tonight

Jamin has been away in the Caribbean since Monday. He flies in tonight. Here's a picture he took in Anguilla. He went snorkeling here and he said it was absolutely beautiful. Maybe next time his work sends him south I'll go too!Mom & Dad came up for a funeral. It was great to see them and it helped break up my time while Jamin's away. The kids had lots of fun with them.

Weekend in review

As usual, the weekend has gone by quickly. I so love weekends. It's great to have Jamin home for a couple of days.

I am going to start playing volleyball at the local rec center. I went on Friday night, but sadly, no one showed up to play. They play on Tuesday nights here too, so I think I'll give that a try this week. It'll be interested to see how I am after taking a few years off. I'll let you know.

Saturday we enjoyed a visit from Peter & Neenie. Peter gave Jamin a ton of his old clothes and Jamin was so excited! Peter often give Jamin his "old" clothes and Jamin estimates than 75% of his closet is from Peter. Pretty sweet deal for us! Here is a shot of some of his clothes; again, mostly from Peter! (that bottom part of the closet is mine; not quite so many clothes)Got a couple of shots with Peter & Neenie with Micah. He's not always up for being held by people other than Jamin & I, so I made sure to get some pics!Last night, Dean & Jen came over and we played Settlers. FUN TIMES! Maybe it was so fun because I won!! Jamin usually seems to win, so I was happy to pull in the victory. I'm on a winning streak right now...well, 2 games in a row is a streak for me :) Now, we need to have Pete Tattrie back over so I can beat him.

I really wanted to get a picture of me in my winning glory, but I could NOT find the camera. I had hid it earlier in the day so Micah wouldn't get it. Oh well, serves me right.Today we enjoyed a visit from Bob & Elsie and Jonny & Holly. Jonny & Holly are heading to Europe, then Africa for a few months. Here are the excited travellers. Here are Bob & Elsie. Bob makes me laugh :)Last, but certainly not least, check out this window seat & pillows that Jamin's Aunt Cindy made for us. I love it! She did an awesome job! Thanks so much, Cindy!!

Busy boy

Just felt like doing a "Micah post". Micah is almost 11 months now. He's such a busy little boy. His favorite things to get into are:
-the toilet
-garbage cans/compost
-anything of Naomi's
-pretty much anything he can!!

He really keeps me hopping all day! On Monday his second tooth came through. So far, he really hasn't had much trouble teething. Hopefully that keeps up. He is now having a bottle of whole milk for one of his feedings everyday. He loves it! He is pretty clingy and loves to be in my arms.

His smile melts my heart and I love him so much!

Pool party

I know, two posts in one day...crazy!

We had a fun day today. One last fun day before Jamin goes back to work. I have SO enjoyed having him home for the last week and a half. What a treat. I could get used to having him around all the time :)

We were invited to a pool party for Naomi's friend, Owen and Micah's friend, Liam. They turned 3 & 1. Naomi had a fantastic time. She's getting much braver as she gets older. She went down the kids' water slide, jumped into the pool (into her daddy's arms of course), and thought she was swimming by herself as she walked along the bottom of the kiddie pool. It was a lot of fun watching her. Micah wasn't so sure of the pool and hung on very tightly to me. I think he was overwhelmed by all the people. There was no crying, but alot of close hugs :)

The best family pic I could getNaomi & Jamin. I love this pic of Naomi.Micah & I

Special breakfast

Here is how a typical weekend-morning conversation goes between Jamin & Naomi:

Jamin: Good morning, Naomi
Naomi: Are you going to work today?
Jamin: Nope
Naomi: Want to make special breakfast??

Today the "special breakfast" was letter-shaped pancakes. My dad used to do this for me when I was growing up. It's a great memory that I have and it makes me happy to know that Naomi will have this memory too.

All I want for Christmas is you....

So, you've probably all been hearing about the airlines, storms, and traveling troubles. Jamin was away in Turkey last week (with work). He left Turkey on Saturday afternoon and was due to fly in to Halifax on Sunday night. That, of course, did not happen.

When I spoke with him on Sunday he was so happy because he had just barely made his flight to Toronto from the Heathrow airport. He was so happy to land in Canada; just about home, or so he thought.

His next flight was supposed to be from Toronto to Halifax. He got on the flight Sunday night and it wasn't able to land in Halifax, so kept going to NFLD. Jamin rushed around the airport there (he said he felt like he was on the Amazing Race!) and managed to book a ticket to Halifax with a different airline than he was originally travelling with. He was excited to be finally getting home. By this time, it was 8:00am Monday morning. He had hardly slept and was getting really tired. Oh well...one last flight, then home.

Not so. The flight couldn't land in Halifax, so kept going to TORONTO! So basically he spent 24 hours to fly to NFLD and back to Toronto. Poor guy.

Then, he managed to get the last seat on a flight to Moncton because there were no flights available to Halifax until after Christmas. He just wanted to get to the Maritimes. He got into Moncton and then booked a flight to Halifax from there.

It got cancelled. Jamin was so desperate to get home, he & a few people he met up with hired a taxi to drive them to Halifax. He finally got home at midnight Monday night.

We're so thankful he is home for Christmas. There are so many people that have just had horrible stories of travelling. Can you imagine being suck in an airport with young children?! That would be so difficult!

We just got a call today that his luggage has arrived, so that's good. He is missing his bite plate :)

Merry Christmas!!

$5/pound!!

Yesterday we bought these lobsters for $5/pound! Is that not a great price or what!? Although I was afraid of them, the kids seemed to enjoy touching them!

More Christmas prep & visit with Cynthia

Just a couple more Christmas prep pics:

Naomi putting the 'M' on the tree for Micah. Grampie makes a letter for each one of us.
Naomi sitting proudly with our gingerbread house. Jamin & I have been making (when I say making, I don't mean baking) one pretty much every year since we met.Last night, Cynthia, Xander & Glenda stayed at our place. Xander is 5 months old and a very happy baby.
Naomi warmed up quickly to our company and wanted Cynthia to read her a book (then another, then another...)
Here's a pic from a few days ago when we still had snow. Naomi was playing on the deck and Micah was watching her, longing to be outside too!

It's Friday night and it's raining & windy. Our power is out, but we're enjoying the use of our generator. You know, for the essentials like internet :)

A tooth!!

Micah's first tooth just popped through today! I was beginning to wonder if he was ever going to get a tooth. He will be 10 months this Saturday.

Christmas festivities

It's December and Christmas will be here soon! We got our tree up yesterday and today we took the kids to the family Christmas party put on by Jamin's workplace. Naomi was excited to go and get her present from Santa. As you will see below, she was not excited to see Santa.

Here are the kids ready to go to the party.
Naomi & Jamin working on a craft:
Micah's name was called before Naomi's. He went up and sat on Santa's lap.
He didn't mind at all.
Naomi's name was called later on. She was NOT happy to see Santa.
However, she did want the gift.
Now that we have our tree up, I have to watch Micah even more closely.
He wants to pull everything off!

Ah, I love this time of year!
