Tara's in town!

Last night Jamin & I met up with some friends at the Lonestar. Tara was in town, so we all got together to see her. It was great to see friends I hadn't seen in a bit and meet a new one as well! We were so hungry that we totally filled up on the free nachos chips & salsa before our meal even came! The food was great, but we almost were sick we were so full. Do you ever do that? Anyway, great times. Thanks Jamie, Kelly & Ainsley for looking after Naomi while we were out!

Visit

Jamin's parents came to visit us for a few days because Bob had a course for work here. We had a great time with them!

Naomi was Grandma's little helper! She kept putting the weeds in the pile,
then running back and saying "more?" So cute!
Elsie can hardly relax, so she asked what she could do. I asked if she'd scrub my tub and she went to town cleaning the whole bathroom!! I'm hoping this will be a new trend when she comes to visit!! :) Thanks so much!On Saturday, Jamin's grandmother was over as well. It was the first time she saw our house.

It's so nice to live in driving distance from our family!

Biking

On the weekend we went to some yard sales. We got a great deal on a bike trailer for Naomi. Jamin & I have taken her on several bike rides since we got it and she really loves it! She says "weeeee!!" as we drive :) Happy Father's Day (a day late) to all the dads out there. I'm so thankful for my dad, Naomi's dad, & my heavenly father.

Friends

I love my friends. It makes me happy to have a bunch of people around! This is a sight I like to see in my front entrance way :)

One particular friend who I call Lau or Lau-Wow, aka Ian Lau was here on Thursday night. It was so good to see him! Don't you wish friends would never move away?

Play Date

Today Tamara & I took the girls grocery shopping. All I can say is that these girls are so cute together! Bethany keeps saying "No-me" (Naomi) and they hug & kiss a lot :) Here's one pic from our morning together!

We had so much fun, Naomi didn't want the girls to go!

Yard Sales, etc.

Do you like yard sales? Jamin & I really enjoy going to the community ones. This weekend our neighborhood had the annual yard sale. We didn't have enough stuff to put our own table in, but we did spend some time checking out some other ones. For all of those parents out there who need baby stuff, yard sales are the place to find it! We got Naomi a bathing suit (50 cents), a keyboard (the neighbors gave it to her), and a bus ($3...I'll have to post a pic later).

Today we went for a drive and noticed that a lot of people have put their yardsale stuff out for garbage collection. We found a few free goodies! A highchair, baby gate, chairs for Naomi, & an umbrella stroller. Not bad for free!!

Naomi enjoys blogging as well!

Weekend

On the weekend, I went as a chaperon to White Point Resort with the grads from church. It was really nice! They have an indoor & outdoor pool, a fire pit, tennis courts, volleyball court, kayaking, canoing, a game's room, & lots of bunnies. I especially enjoyed the food; there were delicious buffets!
Tara & Chloe at the retreat..Chloe was a really good girl :)
The food..yum....
The bunnies!

On Saturday night, Benjy, Lee-Anne, & Kyler came over. Naomi & Kyler were so cute together! Lately she's all about giving hugs & kisses and she really liked giving kisses to Kyler! I think he might have liked it too :) Kyler also liked Naomi's chair. Here are a couple of Naomi pics. We recently starting putting her in the car carts @ Sobeys. She LOVES it! (note, this car did not have a seat belt, but they usually do) All this excitement makes Naomi tired! The other day she actually feel asleep eating her lunch. It was so cute. She is down to one nap most days so by the time 12:30 hits, she's ready for her nap!

Some Naomi pics/updates

Time for more of Naomi. Time is going so quickly at this stage! She's almost 15 months old already! Below are a few pictures of her that I took recently.

Here's what's new with her:

-She takes 2 naps most days still, but sometimes just does one long afternoon nap. She does 10-11.5 hours each night
-She now has 9 teeth. A few days ago she got her first molar. It's on the top. She had a few rough nights while getting that one!
-She's trying so hard to talk. She has several words that anyone could understand (up, no, mum-mum, etc.) and lots that I understand. Her cutest is when she folds her hands and says "Dear God" (although it's hard to make out). She learned it watching us pray before our meals.
-She's still in size 3 diapers (that's more for me than you probably)
-She's starting to throw temper tantrums. She arches her back and screams. They are usually short lived thankfully. I think she has a stubborn streak like her parents!
-Definitely still "Mommy's girl". She follows me around the house all day and loves to help me. She tries to clean the floors, puts clothes in the basket (while I'm trying to fold them), passes me dishes from the dishwasher to put away, and hands me clothes pins while I'm hanging up the clothes. She tries to copy almost everything I do. She's my little shadow!
-She has started to try some spoon feeding herself. She LOVES it, but it's still pretty messy :)
-She continues to adore books. She reads while on her change table, in her crib, on my lap, etc.! Her favorite books are still the ones with tabs you can open.
-That's all I can think of for now. Good to write these things down while I think of them!
Naomi spoon feeding herself and proud of it!
Helping Mommy clean the floor!Pretty in her dress from Auntie Janine and her pigtails!
In her new pool (well, new to her anyway...gotta love yard sales!) She loved it.
She just kept splashing the water as you can see here!

Say CHEESE!!

We just got back from Sobeys. I'm so excited! We got three blocks of cheese for FREE! Man, I love getting something for free!!!

Here's the story. We saw a sale sign that said the cheese was on for $5.97 down from $7.69. It also said you would get 20 airmiles with every three you buy. Since we go through cheese so quickly I got three. When we got to the check out it came up at the $7.69 price. Anyway, they checked it out and the sale shouldn't have been advertised in the store because it was over. Anyway, they gave us all three for FREE!!

I'm doing pretty good for free food lately...first the watermelon, now this! Wahoo!!

Bye-bye, Kelley...

Today Kelley left Halifax. I'm sad about that. As you can see in the above, she's sad too. She's heading to Ontario. The people in Ontario better appreciate having her because the people in Halifax miss her already.

Last night our small group had a little good-bye party for Kelley. We played games, prayed for her, & took lots of pics :)

Kelley is an amazing girl with so many gifts. She is an encourager, she's wise, she's fun, & she's beautiful! We love you, Kelley....

Free Stuff again!!!

If you are a regular reader of my blog, you may remember that I went to a baby expo about 6 months ago with Kelly & Ainsley, and Naomi of course. They held another one today and we all went together again. The movie was Shrek the Third. We were able to stay for maybe half of it and then Naomi was starting to get ready for her nap, so we headed home. The real reason we go is for the free stuff anyway!

I must mention that I WON A PRIZE today! Last time Tamara & Matt both won, and today, Tamara, Rachel & I all won something! Pretty crazy since the theatre was packed and they only gave out a few prizes. I couldnt' believe it...I never win anything! Wahoo! I won a Sesame Street computer game; not bad for free!
Bottom Row: Tamara, Bethany, Sarah, Naomi, Ainsley, Kelly.
Top row: Jennifer & Abigail, Rachel standing up with Ryan, and Amy & Campbell.
The free goodies!!!

Weekend away!

I've been busy this week; I can hardly believe it's Wednesday night and I'm just getting this post up!

For the long weekend Jamin & I rented a beautiful log cabin on the South Shore. Mom & Dad came up and looked after Naomi. It was the first time we both left her over night. She did great! She loved her time with Grampie & Nana and they enjoyed it as well! Thanks so much!!

Jamin & I enjoyed the fire, doing puzzles, reading, & exploring the local area. Our house had a full kitchen, laundry room, 3 bedrooms, & 2 bathrooms. We had most meals at home, but went out to eat a couple of times. It was so nice to be able to sleep and nap for as long as we wanted!!

We also stopped by a nearby beach one afternoon. It was cool, but really beautiful.Hope you all enjoyed your long weekend as much as we did!
