For Auntie Neenie

Dear Auntie Neenie,

I got Mom to post a couple of pics of me in the outfit you gave me. I'm glad that it finally fits me! It goes nicely with the shoes you gave me too! Hope you & Uncle Peter are enjoying the married life!

Love,
Naomi

PS When are you coming to visit?

First Steps

Naomi has taken one step before, but tonight was the first time she has really taken a couple in a row! It was nice because Jamin was home too for the "big event"! I still don't think Naomi will actually be walking for a bit because she seems to love crawling since she's so good at it. Enjoy!

Naomi's friend...

It's been a busy & fun week for us. Roxanne has been here from PEI to take in some skating. I have been looking after Gavin while she's been out. He's been a really good boy and Naomi enjoys having him around.

Here are a couple of pics especially for Nana & Grampie. This is Naomi in her rocking chair from them (it used to be mine.) She learned how to climb into it the other day and keeps doing it.

Cape Breton & McDonald's

Have you seen the McDonald's commercial done in Cape Breton? Here it is if you haven't:

There was a funny article (in my opinion) about it in the Herald:

When I first saw the commercial I laughed. Give me your thoughts.

Visit with my sister & bro (in-law)

Sunday night Mary & Eric came up. Eric did some recording on Monday for his new CD. They had planned to head back to CB later Monday, but due to weather conditions they decided to stay another night. (I was secretly happy because I love having them here!) Mary & I got on a cleaning kick last night. She offered to clean the kitchen floors (of course, I said sure!) and since I don't have a good mop, she did it by hand! It looks awesome..thanks, sister! You can visit ANYTIME!

Some pics

Thought you might enjoy some pics on this Sunday evening (or maybe you're checking later on in the week). I just got back from Naomi Hunter's shower. It was really nice to see her, play a few games, eat some yummy food, and meet some new people. The roads were super slippery on the way back, but thankfully I made it safely.

Here is Naomi in front of her $$ tree :)
Naomi & I
Heather & I. Heather confessed to me that she is a blog stalker. I now expect her to change her ways and throw me a comment now & then :) If you too are a blog stalker, feel free to come clean like Heather did...just leave a comment! This is me with all of clothes pins on my shirt, accepting my prize! It was a nice frame with a pic in it that Heather took (the best prize in my opinion). I won because I collected the most clothes pins. You weren't allowed to say bride or wedding and if you did someone could take your clothes pins. I got every one, except for 2!
Last night Tom & Amanda came over for supper. It was great to hang out with them. Naomi is eating a nob from the speaker system :)
Here is a pic from last Monday night @ Tara's shower. Tara, Rachel & Tamara. The countdown is on for baby Miller...I'm so excited!!
Jillian & I at the shower. Don't you like Jill's new hair do?!
Last, a cute pic of Naomi that Jeff & Amanda took. I took it from their blog!Have a great week!

Random thoughts, etc.

(*Note: This is a random pic from the internet, not a pic of the sextuplets discussed below)
  • Did you hear about the sextuplets born in Vancouver on Monday? Wow. Can you imagine having SIX babies!?!? Did you know that only 160 cases of sextuplets have ever been documented? This is Canada's first. If I had 6 babies I would be asking my parents, Jamin's parents & basically anyone who wanted to, to move in to my house!
  • Jamin in now in a car pool. I guess it's not really a car "pool" since Jamin doesn't drive; he just gives money. It's great for me because I have the car everyday now! Not that I go somewhere everyday, but it's nice to have the option.
  • This does NOT feel like winter. The weather has been awesome lately. I hope this keeps up.
  • I went to Tara's baby shower the other night. It was lots of fun. I won two prizes :) The food was fantastic. I love food. I am a big eater. I thank God for food.
  • Heard this the other day. "If you have something you're not using, get rid of it." I thought it was a great statement. If I have something that I don't use and probably will never use, why hold on to it? So, I went through my closet the other day and have a wack of clothes I never wear to get rid of. Some are from high school! It felt good to purge. I think I'll tackle Jamin's clothes (with his input of course) next.
  • I talked to Margaret the other night. They are now in Edmonton. I keep thinking that she's just on vacation. I miss not being able to call her as easy all time time. I might have to look into long distance...
I think those are all my latest thoughts/news.

Settlers of Catan

Jamin's bro, Jonny was here on the weekend. While he was here we played Settlers of Catan a few times. After Jamin bragged to us about his long winning streak, Jonny & I both beat him (Jamin did win as well)!

I love playing games. Cards, Taboo, Guestures, Settlers, & Rook are among my favorites. I can be quite competitive, although I think I'm starting to mellow a bit.

What about you? Do you like playing games? Which one(s)?

The latest stage...

Naomi has been a bit "clingy" lately. I did some reading about this phase:

"Between 8 months old 1 year old, your child is growing into a more independent toddler - yet he or she is even more uncertain about being separated from you. This is when separation anxiety typically develops, and your child may become agitated and upset whenever you try to leave him or her. Whether you need to go into the next room for just a few seconds, leave your child with a sitter for the evening, or drop off your child at day care, you may find that your child cries, clings to you, and resists attention from others. "

Naomi is certainly in this stage. If I leave the room she's in, she cries. She often only wants me. While I'm flattered, sometimes it can be a bit much. I suppose I should try my best to enjoy this stage...someday she probably won't want me around as much! :)

I leave you with this cute pic of Naomi & Franklin (Jeff & Amanda's kitty) that Jeff took. J&A were here on Thursday night along with Franklin & Oliver :)

Holiday update

I'm not sure where to start! We've had a busy vacation. This is probably my longest post ever, so if you don't read the whole thing, I won't be offended!!

Before Christmas Jamin spent some time working on the basement...we're getting close to completion. Naomi gave him a few pointers...We stayed in Halifax for Christmas this year. It was a nice, quiet Christmas. We had a nice breakfast and then opened our gifts. Naomi enjoyed the wrapping paper as much as her presents :) Later that day we went to the Sutherlands house for Christmas dinner....yum! Thanks for having us!
Naomi & I on Christmas eve, heading to church.Ainsley & Naomi playing on Christmas.

On Boxing Day we headed for Cape Breton. We celebrated Christmas with my family that evening. Naomi loved all of her toys from Grampie & Nana! The week was busy with fun activities leading up to Peter & Janine's wedding. On Wednesday night we went out to Boston Pizza for her personal shower. Mmmmmm....
Mom, Mary & ICollen (Janine's mom), Jodi (Janine's sister), & Janine

That same night Jamin went camping with a bunch of the guys. He looked kind of funny all ready to go! They had a great time out under the stars that night. Not my idea of a good time, but they seemed to enjoy it! When all the guys were gone, the girls hung out for a bit...what a nice looking bunch!
Megan, Alisha, me, Elliot, Danielle, Mary & Leanne (sorry if I spelled any names wrong)

On Thursday night Cheryl had the old Cape Breton crew (+ those who married in!) over to her place. It was soooo good to see everyone. I love my friends from home; there is something really special about them.

I had the priviledge to be in Janine's wedding party. She spoiled us! On Friday we all went and had our nails done...not just fingernails, but toes too! How fun is that!? I had never had a pedicure before...Jamin hopes I'm not addicted! We also did hair & make-up (another first for me) on Saturday before the wedding. Janine made sure we looked our best :) Thanks!!Friday night was the rehearsal & dinner at Don Cherry's. Jamin & Eric ate so many wings they could hardly walk afterwards! They were funny to watch trying to outeat one another :)Saturday was the big day! The wedding was sooo beautiful. Just over 50 people in attendance, it was very intimate. It was nice to see family & friends there for the special day. I'm not an emotional person, but I'll admit, I did have some tears in my eyes watching Peter & Janine get married. I love my brother very much and am so happy he has found such a wonderful wife. Janine looked beautiful of course. I wish I had a picture of her shoes to show you too! Soo pretty! The day went well and I think everyone enjoyed themselves. I should have taken some pics of all the food! It was delicious. Their meal had a palate cleanser...who has ever heard of such a thing!? I learned something new! Congrats to Peter & Janine!

Here is a pic of our babysitters! They looked after Naomi while we were doing wedding stuff. Let's just say it wasn't an easy task as Naomi is lately just wanting her mommy all the time! Thanks so much Amanda & Jeff...we really appreciate it!

That pretty much concludes our vacation. We had a quiet New Year's with a couple of people dropping by. We got to see Margaret & Tyler and say "bye for now". They have headed out west today. I don't think it has sunk in yet for me that she's not just a car ride away anymore....

Happy New Year to everyone! Are you making a resolution? I usually do, but I have hardly had time to think about it. I'll keep you posted!
